Deccan Heritage Foundation Tour — January 2015

18 January — 02 February 2015

Programme
The DHF organised a very successful tour of the Deccan and its historical wonders in January 2015. Starting in Hyderabad and finishing in the great metropolis of Mumbai, it involved a two-week trip through over 2,000 years of history.

We visited ruined cities such as Bidar; saw palaces of sultans and emperors from Dungarpur to Maheshwar; and experienced some of the most stunning religious sites in all of India including the stunning stepwell, Rani-Ki-Vav, in Patan, the Jainist temple at Ranakpur, and the Jama Masjid Mosque in Champaner (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), to name just a few. Along the way we stayed in the most luxurious hotels the Deccan has to offer (as well as a few former royal palaces), sipped tea while floating down sacred rivers, and marvelled at the ingenuity of the people who built monuments to gods or kings which have outlasted entire civilisations.
